The new board of directors takes office. Unacea signs a partnership with Ecomondo
In the first six months of 2022, 11,468 construction machines have been placed on the Italian market, up 25% if compared to the first six months of 2021. In more details, 11,084 earth moving machines (+25%) and 384 road machines (+6%) were sold. However, looking at the trend quarter on quarter in 2022 (+27%), the growth rate is definitely more moderate if compared to the same trend of 2021 (+43%), due to the mutated international and economic scenario. Figures have been released last 19th July by Unacea in a web press conference sponsored by Ecomondo.
During the press conference, Unacea has also introduced the new association’s president, Michele Vitulano (Indeco), who takes over from Mirco Risi, in charge since 2018. Also the board of directors has been renewed: Davide Cipolla (Cifa) and Mario Spinelli (Wirtgen Italia) are the new elected councillors. All the other members have been confirmed: Nicola D’Arpino (Cnh Industrial) and Ruggero Riva (Cgt), both appointed as vice presidents, David Bazzi (Komatsu), Giovanni Bolognini (Caterpillar), Alessandro Ditillo (Soilmec), Domenico Matrone (Jcb Italia), Mirco Risi (Simex), Paolo Salvadori (Imer Group), Enrico Santini (Fiori Group).
“Although the market results remain positive, the Italian industry of construction equipment is going through a complex period due to the effects of the war in Ukraine, the rising inflation and the outbreak of the Italian government crisis – said Michele Vitulano, president of Unacea. However, I remain optimistic about the future: Italian companies are used to work in complicated contexts and, on the other hand, post covid public investments in infrastructural works should ensure stability to the construction sector.”
Finally, Unacea confirmed the cooperation with Ecomondo, the event dedicated to ecological transition and circular and regenerative economy, which will take place in Rimini from 8th to 11th November. Unacea, who is a member of the technical-scientific committee of Ecomondo, will be present at the exhibition with its institutional booth and with the member companies that will exhibit in the dedicated pavillions.
