In the first quarter of 2020, construction equipment sold on the Italian market were 2,701, with a drop of 15% compared to the same period of 2019. In more details, earth moving machines sold were 2,609 (-15%), while road machineries were 92, with a decrease of 23%.
Data was released yesterday by Unacea during an on-line press conference. “It is a dramatic drop – said Mirco Risi, President of Unacea – because the trend in the first two months of the year had been quite positive, but with the arrival of the crisis in March we have witnessed the cancellation of the market, both foreign and internal. In order to avoid the destruction of the Italian industry, we need urgent public support relating to the relaunch and acceleration of public infrastructures. On the other hand, we must ensure that liquidity actually reaches the companies, which has not happened yet”.
