Italian construction equipment fly to India
The sector’s SMEs will exhibit jointly at Excon
trade fair, Bangalore

Focus on the markets of emerging countries to offset the current severe sales crisis in Italy. This seems to be the strategy of small and medium enterprises of the construction equipment sector. An example of such strategy is their joint participation in the Excon trade fair, Balgalore (23-27 November), where 15 Italian firms will exhibit their products together. The initiative is organised by Confindustria Modena in collaboration with Unacea. The firms taking part in the event are: Carraro, Omb Srl, M3 Srl, Mantovanibenne Srl, Tecfluid Srl, Ognibene, Mix Srl, MB Spa, Italdraghe Spa, Oleoweb Srl, Fae Group Spa, Value Part Europe Spa, Officine Meccaniche Eme Srl, Safim Spa, Hansa Tmp Srl.

“India is a market offering enormous opportunities – maintains Michele Vitulano, Unacea councillor appointed to internationalization -. A huge process of urbanization is taking place there, and the Indian state is supporting it with massive plans for infrastructural development. Considering the extension and the number of inhabitants of the subcontinent, we are witnessing a giant version of our own economic miracle of the 60’s. The Italian construction equipment industry must be able to take part in this process”.

Actually, according to the data divulged by the Indian industrial association (Cii), the 11th five-year plan closing next year will reach 492 billion dollars of investments in infrastructure, while for the following 2012-16 period another 1,025 billion are expected. These works will greatly affect the construction equipment market: according to the data and estimates of Off-Highway Research, we will pass from an annual average of more than 32,800 units sold in the period 2006-10 to 66,900 units in 2011-15, i.e. about six times as much as the Italian market.
