BIGLIA (Cnh) ELECTED VICEPRESIDENT OF UNACEA

Unacea The change in Unacea top management is in line with the project of an association representing the construction equipment sector: Giampiero Biglia, construction equipment business director of Cnh for the Italian market, has been elected vicepresident replacing Franco Invernizzi (marketing director of Cnh Construction Equipment at global level), who resigned after representing the transnational firm in the board of directors from the creation of Unacea.

"In a year and a half – declares Franco Invernizzi – we have created a slim association, able to have the voice of the sector heard at ministerial level, contribute to the work carried out by Cece at European level, involve firms well beyond the earthmoving sector, organise joint participations of companies in international exhibitions, launch statistics tools for new product lines never surveyed before, start collaborations with experts in order to offer qualified technical support to associate members. Most of all, through our association, we have been able to promote a new atmosphere: the firms are competitors on the market, but they are united in the defence and re-launching of the construction equipment sector. It is considering these growing activities of the association and my increasing professional commitments for Cnh, which require my presence in the United States, that I have thought it necessary to resign from my position."

"In Italy, work in the building yards has practically stopped – maintains Giampiero Biglia -. The public administration continues to delay payments and consequently the market, already halved over the past 3 years, continues to drop. In this situation, the European legislation obliges the firms to invest such huge sums of money to reduce gas emissions that they risk to go bankrupt, also because at national level no incentive has been foreseen for the renewal of the fleet.
The paradoxical consequence is that all obsolete machines are still being used, thus contradicting the very objectives of the legislation. At European level, through Cece, we ask that the European Council and Parliament find a compromise for the good of the industry and of the occupational volumes, which are being endangered by the delay of the vote on the proposal to extend the flexibility criteria concerning the emissions directive.
At national level, we hope that the Construction equipment table at the Ministry of economic development may rapidly lead to a series of measures to stimulate innovation and efficiency in building yards. The development of Unacea, as an association that promotes the interests of the construction equipment sector, will be a fundamental means to reach these objectives."
